The JSN-SR04T Waterproof Ultrasonic Distance Sensor is a robust, non-contact distance measurement module designed for harsh and wet environments, offering a range of 20cm to 600cm with an accuracy of ±2mm under ideal conditions. Unlike the HC-SR04, which uses two transducers, the JSN-SR04T employs a single piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer (40kHz) that acts as both transmitter and receiver, connected via a 2.5m waterproof cable to a control board. Operating on 3.0–5.5V DC (5V typical for V2, 3.3–5V for V2.0/3.2), it draws ~30mA during active measurement and <5mA in standby, making it energy-efficient for IoT projects. The module features four pins: VCC (3.5–5.5V), GND, Trigger (20µs high pulse to initiate), and Echo (outputs a high pulse proportional to distance). It uses ultrasonic waves (340m/s speed of sound) to calculate distance, with a 75° detection cone, best suited for hard, reflective surfaces (e.g., water, metal) at least 0.5m² in size.
