Description

The S8550 PNP Transistor is a low-voltage, high-current silicon transistor designed for general-purpose applications such as audio amplification and switching circuits. With a maximum collector-emitter voltage (Vce) of -25V and a collector current (Ic) rating of 700 mA, it’s an excellent choice for driving moderate loads and small-signal amplification. The S8550 offers a power dissipation of 625 mW and a DC current gain (hFE) ranging from 85 to 300, ensuring consistent performance across various conditions. Encased in a TO-92 package, it features a collector-base voltage (Vcb) of -40V and an emitter-base voltage (Veb) of -5V, with a transition frequency (fT) of approximately 150 MHz. This transistor is commonly used in push-pull configurations with its NPN complement, the S8050, for Class B amplifiers, as well as in power supplies, LED drivers, and electronic hobby projects. It operates reliably within a temperature range of -55°C to 150°C, making it a durable and cost-effective option for both beginners and seasoned engineers.
