The DS18B20 Waterproof Temperature Sensor Probe (1m) is a pre-wired, digital temperature sensor designed for reliable temperature measurement in challenging environments, such as liquids, soil, or humid conditions. Based on the DS18B20 chip from Maxim Integrated, it uses a 1-Wire interface, requiring only one digital pin (plus ground) for communication with microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or ESP32. The sensor features a 6mm x 50mm stainless steel probe that is waterproof, moisture-proof, and rust-resistant, with a 1m PVC-jacketed cable (recommended for use below 100°C, though the sensor itself handles -55°C to +125°C). It offers a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C (-67°F to +257°F) with an accuracy of ±0.5°C from -10°C to +85°C and configurable resolution from 9 to 12 bits (default 12-bit, 0.0625°C precision). Each sensor has a unique 64-bit serial code, allowing multiple sensors to share a single 1-Wire bus for distributed monitoring, such as in aquariums, greenhouses, or water tanks. Operating on 3.0V to 5.5V and drawing ~1mA during conversions, it includes an alarm function with user-programmable high/low temperature thresholds. A 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor (included) is required between the data and VCC lines for stable communication. The probe is not suitable for saltwater or corrosive environments and is not IP-rated for long-term high-pressure submersion. Ideal for applications like water quality monitoring, sous-vide cooking, or environmental sensing, this RoHS-compliant sensor is easy to integrate using libraries like DallasTemperature and OneWire for Arduino.
