Description

The 5kg Straight Bar Load Cell is a compact, high-precision strain gauge sensor designed to translate up to 5kg of pressure or force into an electrical signal. Constructed from a durable aluminum-alloy, this straight bar load cell features four strain gauges wired in a Wheatstone bridge configuration, enabling it to measure changes in electrical resistance proportional to the applied strain. Ideal for applications like kitchen scales, small platform scales, or presence detection, it provides accurate weight measurements with a capacity of 0-5kg. The module includes two M4 and two M5 through-holes for secure mounting and offers an IP65 protection rating, ensuring resistance to dust and water jets, making it suitable for various environments.
This load cell operates with a recommended excitation voltage of 5-10V (maximum 10V) and requires an additional signal amplifier, such as the HX711, to interface with microcontrollers like Arduino due to its small output voltage. It features color-coded wiring: red (Exc+), green (Sig+), black (Exc-), and white (Sig-), with dimensions typically around 12.7x12.7x75mm or 12.7x12.7x80mm depending on the variant. For Arduino use, connect the load cell to an HX711 amplifier, then link the amplifier to the Arduino’s digital pins (e.g., D2 for DT, D3 for SCK), and power with 5V. Use the HX711 library for data processing. Operating effectively from -10°C to +40°C (compensated range), it weighs approximately 50-60g.
Note: Proper mounting with rigid spacers is essential to ensure accurate force transmission, and calibration with known weights is recommended for optimal performance.
