Description

The TEC1-12703 Thermoelectric Cooler Module is a compact Peltier device based on the thermoelectric effect, featuring 127 semiconductor couples in a 40x40mm area. Operating at 12V with a maximum current of 3A, it delivers a cooling capacity of 29.7W and can achieve a maximum temperature difference of 65°C when the cold side is fully cooled (Qc=0). This module creates a temperature differential across its two sides—one becomes cold while the other becomes hot—allowing it to cool or heat depending on the polarity of the applied voltage. It is widely used for applications like CPU cooling, small refrigeration units, and portable coolers, provided the heat from the hot side is effectively dissipated with a heat sink or fan.
Constructed with high-quality ceramic plates for durability, the TEC1-12703 operates with a maximum voltage of 15.4V and a resistance of 2.8-3.2Ω (measured at 23°C, 1kHz AC test). It features 300mm insulated leads with tinned ends for easy wiring and is rated for a working temperature range of -55°C to +83°C, though high ambient temperatures reduce cooling efficiency. For Arduino use, connect the red wire to the positive terminal and the black wire to the negative terminal of a 12V power supply, ensuring a heat sink is attached to the hot side to prevent damage. It pairs well with temperature sensors like the GY-906 MLX90614 for monitoring. The module, weighing approximately 20-25g, requires careful handling to avoid thermal overload.
Note: Without proper heat dissipation, the module will reach thermal equilibrium and stop functioning effectively.
